With Samsung Galaxy and the Samsung Galaxy S9 Note 9 impressing samsung phone lineup is piled in 2018. Its mid-range offerings are a bit less appealing though, particularly with impressive devices like the OnePlus 6 offering features for less than 500. The point where the Samsung Galaxy A9 2018 comes in, this is. For #549 you’re getting 128GB storage, a lot of RAM (6GB) and five cameras. That is a whole lot of phone for the money.

Helping the Samsung Galaxy A9 stick out in the crowded mid-range smartphone space is the range on the trunk. Each sensor sits in a design on the trunk and in many ways it looks much like the Huawei P20 Pro.

The primary camera is a 24-megapixel sensor having an f/1.7 aperture. Below that sits a camera which focusses solely on gathering depth information feature. Next up is an telephoto sensor that’ll provide you improved quality if you’re zooming – or so Samsung states – and an ultra-wide 10-megapixel sensor. The camera allows stuff crammed into the shot and offers you 120-degree view, a far wider. Something was used by LG and it functioned there.

There’s also a 24-megapixel camera round the front with an f/2.0 aperture. Switching between this selection of cameras is enough in the simple camera program and it was quick to move through all of the options that are differing.

I will need to devote time to judge whether this many cameras are required and how good the quality of the shots are, but it was easy to observe the range of different colors between every cameras. The telephoto, by way of instance, had a warm, orange shine, with the ultra-wide being considerably skinnier.

Cameras aside, there is plenty more to enjoy here. Powering the phone is a Snapdragon 660, paired with an astonishing 6GB RAM. That’s more than Pixel 3 XL or more the Google Pixel 3. You have also got 128GB storage and microSD expansion. Topping off the bundle is a battery that is sizeable.

On the front is a big 6.3-inch FHD+ panel with a slim bezel without a notch. Samsung calls this ‘Immersive Display’ as opposed to an’Infinity Screen’ (the one which you’ll find about the Galaxy S9 Plus) as there’s no curvature into the sides. It is definitely not as showy as these other displays, but it has good colors.

The design of this phone feels – and looks different to Samsung devices. It’s made from a’glass-like’ material that feels type of plasticky into the signature, but it also comes at a fantastical collection of sparkly colors. There is a pink and a blue that is comparable to the Twilight colour of this Huawei P20. They look great and really do stand out. I’m not as convinced about the look of the cameras on the trunk.
